Meet Our Founder

Patricia Valderruten

I'm a communications professional, television producer, author, proud dog mom and animal welfare advocate by conviction. After more than 25 years in marketing, television and live events, I decided to use what I know best — communication and storytelling — to help create meaningful change. That decision led to The Petworking and its mission to educate people, promote responsible pet ownership and help build better communities for pets and people. I don't train dogs. I educate humans.

Why We Exist

Every day, shelters, rescue organizations, veterinarians and animal welfare professionals do extraordinary work responding to abandonment, neglect and other challenges affecting animals. But we believe there is another important part of the solution:
Prevention through education. Many problems can begin long before an animal reaches a shelter — with a lack of information, preparation or awareness about the responsibility of living with a pet. The Petworking was created to help address that gap.

What We Believe

Responsible pet ownership is also social responsibility.

Education can help people make better decisions, prevent avoidable problems, protect animal wellbeing and promote more respectful coexistence in increasingly pet-friendly communities. Our goal is simple: Healthier Animals. Healthier People. Better Communities. Educate. Connect. Transform.

Stronger Bonds. Better Communities.

The Petworking is an education and social impact platform created to strengthen the relationship between people and animals through responsible pet ownership, prevention and community awareness.

We believe that when people are better informed, animals live better — and when pets and people thrive together, communities become healthier, safer and more compassionate.
